Change is sad
Posted Thursday, July 24, at 8:47 PM
I am sad to report I am no longer going to be working full time at the Trumann Democrat. I know, so sad.
I have accepted a position as high school English teacher for the Turrell School District. So, I'm a rocket.
I worked at the newspaper for six and a half years and this change is hard. I really loved my job and as excited as I am about a new start, it is hard to leave my old job.
As of right now it is undecided if I will still be a columnist and write stories periodically, that will be up to my publisher, but I am still going to be around and active in Trumann activities!!!
Fireworks This past fourth of July weekend my husband, James, and I took our two children, Leah and Campbell, to the Heber Springs Lake. My parents were also there along with many of my extended family members. And of course, it rained and rained, and we mostly stayed inside the camper...
I'm a tired mommy One thing I have noticed is that adults are always trying to find ways to get more sleep and kids are trying to find ways to get out of sleep. My two kids, 4 and 2, try their hardest to stay awake as long as possible. Campbell goes down pretty easy, if you follow his routine. We read, sing and then sing again and he is ready to sleep...
Swimming pool poll results Here are the results of our most recent poll: Does the city of Trumann need a public swimming pool? 178 votes cast Comments:...
How all my dreams came true When my husband, James, and I got married we knew we wanted children. After trying to conceive for nearly a year, we opted for fertility drugs for a couple years, when those didn't work we then tried a minor surgery. For the past several years we have tossed around the idea of adoption. We knew we would love an adopted child just like they came from us. We researched the different types of adoption, you would be surprised at the various options facing couples who decide to adopt...
Southernism My good friend Gary Henry sent me these and even though I have read them before I still laugh at them, so I thought I would share. Only a Southerner knows the difference between a hissie fit and a conniption fit, and that you don't 'HAVE' them, you 'PITCH' them...
I hate ants Is it just me or has anyone else had a problem with ants in their house this year? This is the first time I have had ants and they are driving me crazy. We sprayed the yard, multiple times, sprayed inside the house and stil ants, ants and you guessed it more ants...
Summer This past weekend my husband, James, and I took our nephew, Garner, to the Greers Ferry Lake with us. It was a really great weekend, the weather was beautiful - the sun was shining, but it wasn't to hot. It was our first trip to the lake with our new - and by new I mean new to us - boat. We all had a great time...
WHY? Why do stores tell us, "Come back again!" when they know we will. Now I could understand if it was a small mom and pop store not usually visited and it was your first time to go there, but when I leave Wal-Mart the checker doesn't have to tell me, "Come back again!" because she knows I will...
Visit our Open Forum Everyone seems to be enjoying the new website layout. The only complaints I have had are there not being a guestbook. We set up an Open Forum blog that is essentially a guestbook. So those of you who haven't found it yet, check it out and those who have posted, thanks for reading us online...
