A must at all family reunion is family photos. Me, my grandmother Joyce Rouse Sharp and my sister Mallory Roberts, stop for one last photo before we leave the reunion.

No matter what your race, nationality or religion, all family have something in common. That's right, the family reunion.

My annual tour of family reunions began today, the third Sunday in May, as has been tradition for nearly 30 years.

The reunion is to honor my great-grandmother, Linnie Pearl Sharp. The event was started by her eight children as a way for all their families to stay in touch.

Over the years as families have grown and moved away it has gotten smaller, but we still have a great time.

Family reunions are kind of like class reunions. You know each other so well that no matter how long since you have all been together, you still have a good time, because you have known them forever and of course have the, hey remember when so and so did so and so? topics to discuss.

Basically we meet and eat. There is some talking and visiting thrown in, but there is also some really good food. And really great desserts.

I of course indulged in everything, eating and talking.

I must give a shout out, well I suppose a type out in this case, to my cousin John Ryan of Jonesboro. He didn't believe me when I said I was going to include him in my blog, he didn't even know what a blog was, so HEY JOHN NOW YOU ARE IN A BLOG!!!

He might be considered the class clown of our family. He certainly likes to think he is funny.

Now they I have my Sharp family reunion out of the way, I just have to make it to my Rouse family reunion and James' Fischer Family Reunion and we will be set for the year!

My family also has our reunion the third weekend in May in the honor of my great-grandmother. This last one was the smallest one yet but it was the funnest! I got to see two cousins that I grew up with that I haven't got to see in years! Everyone has those crazy family members that drive you nuts but its fun together the older I get. Almost all my grandparents have passed only have one living now but it goes to show how you have to carry on the generations and keep the traditions going.
