Is it just me or has anyone else had a problem with ants in their house this year?

This is the first time I have had ants and they are driving me crazy. We sprayed the yard, multiple times, sprayed inside the house and stil ants, ants and you guessed it more ants.

I just hate them.

I have been making extra sure to keep all food and items I think might contain sugar put up and or in a container, but they are still there.

I walked around my the outside of my house and found where they were getting inside and followed the trail killing all the ants with my spray. I also have knocked over every and hill in my yard. This still didn't work and I was getting so mad and frustrated.

I decided to do what I always do when I don't know the answer to something, I googled it.

And of course there were about as many ways to get rid of ants for each ant I had. But one remedy looked very interesting to me and I was sure it wouldn't work, so I tried it just to prove it woulnd't work, but it is working!!

I used baby powder! One of the many entries I read said ants wouldn't crawl through baby powder. I know, it sounds crazy. So I sprinkled baby powder on the two places the ants were getting into my house, in one cabinet they seemed to like, all across the backs of my counters in my kitchen and along one wall in my eating area.

And before you ask, yes, my husband, James, thought I had completely lost my mind, until I explained what I was doing.

But I can cautiously say, my house has been ant free sent I went a little crazy with the baby powder. I now just have a big old baby powder mess to clean up.

Other remedies included sprinkling cayanne pepper or black pepper around, but I just knew my kitty, Ruth, would probably stick her little kitty nose into it and have a big old sneezing party.

And to my amazement she hasn't even messed with the baby powder on the floor. She doesn't get on the counters, so I wasn't worried about that.

I'll keep everyone informed on how long my baby powder barrier keeps the ants away.
