Daytime invasion theft

It's that time year. The weather is nice and lots of people are out and about around town. So I am sending this friendly reminder to Trumann residents. Keep your house doors locked at all times, even if you are at home!
Just last week a Trumann man and his daughter were in his backyard washing a car and someone entered the front door of his home and stole cash, jewelry and credit cards. The thief then tried to enter the neighbors' home and the alarm ran them off. If you are in the backyard, keep your front door locked and garage closed. People, some even from other towns, are out walking neighborhoods looking for opportunities to steal. A common way these thieves steal from your home is they will knock on the front door, checking to see if anyone is at home. If someone answers the door they will make up a question and leave. If no one answers the door, they will check to see if the door is unlocked and if so go inside. And if it is locked they may break in. These types of thieves usually will enter the home and steal jewelry or money, small items they can slip into their pockets and walk out with. Some tips to avoid being the victim of a summer time theft of opportunity are: *If you are going to be outside in your yard, lock all doors you can not directly sees. *Keep your garage closed at all times. *Don't leave items under your carport or on porches that could easily be walked away with. More and more as the economy gets worse thefts increase, some people who live off government subsidies will use the economy as an excuse, even though they aren't as affected. Some people will enter your home if they know you are outside and don't think you will be coming back in soon. If you see anyone suspicious in your neighborhood going door to door, if anyone knocks on your front door and you find it suspicious or if you see anyone acting suspicious or an unfamiliar suspicious vehicle in your neighborhood do not hesitate to call the Trumann Police Department at 870-483-6342. No Sherry. It is an everywhere thing. I guarantee this is not exclusive to Trumann. Pick up a Jonesboro Sun and you will see it tenfold more than here in Trumann. As a matter of fact, pick up any paper or watch any local news channel, you'll see far worse than Trumann.
it must be a trumann thing
i just wanna say theres alot of stealing going on now days iv had stuff like solar lights and things took from my yard when i go out back i always lock my door if im out front i lock front and when im home alone i keep doors locked iv had my car hit 2 times parked in my drive way and im in housing so thats a safe thing to do if your out side lock ur doors, and i never knew who hit my car. so lock up i do .
Remember you ARE in Trumannn!!!! I lived there most of my life and I learned long ago theres a huge problem with people robbing around there~i say LOCK UR DOORS and be very cautious!!
It makes me sick that there are people out there that prey on unsuspecting people all the time. That is just the world we live in. It is crazy to have to live like a prisoner in my own home and community!
