Mr. McClelland was born in Monette on January 24, 1916, and had lived in Trumann for the past 52 years. He was formerly of Flint, Mich. He was a retired farmer and welder and was a member of the First Assembly of God in Jonesboro. Mr. McClelland was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Rosson McClelland who died in 2000 and by one son, Stephen McClelland; three sisters; one brother and was the son of the late Robert and Maudie Blankenship McClelland.
Mr. McClelland is survived by five daughters, Mrs. Elaine Simmons and Mrs. Paulette Haynes of Trumann, Mrs. Deborah Gunter of Shreveport, La., Mrs. Jeanette Davis of Ecru, Miss., and Mrs. Carol Steele of Olive Branch, Miss.; one son, David McClelland of Trumann; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Assembly of God in Jonesboro, Ark., with Rev. Mike Glover and Rev. Kenneth Doke officiating. The burial took place at the Monette Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jim Canada, James Kimberland, Kevin Simmons, James Toy, Whitney Williams and Bill Womack. Honorary pallbearers were Carl Anders, JR Canada, Bart Haynes, Eugene Hopkins, Jerry Huffman, Mack Johnson and Hermon Reece.
