John Douglas McDaniel

Mr. John Douglas McDaniel of Williford, Ark., passed away June 18, 2003, at the family residence in Williford due to the injuries received in a tractor accident. He was 67 years old.

Mr. McDaniel was born in Fulton, Miss. and had lived in Williford for the past four years and was formerly of Trumann. He was a carpenter, veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Korean War and of the Baptist faith. Mr. McDaniel was preceded in death by one daughter and his parents, Vernie M. and Giula Turner McDaniel.

Mr. McDaniel is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Barrett McDaniel of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Terri Lynn Hewitt of Sarasota, Fla. and Mrs. Cindy McCoy of Cincinnati, Ohio; stepdaughter, Mrs. Sherry Shaw of Trumann; son, John David McDaniel of Sarasota, Fla.; three sisters, Mrs. Helen Maxwell of Williford, Ark., Mrs. Willie Jo Webb of Trumann and Mrs. Joyce McDermott of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, Billy McDaniel of Williford and Vernie McDaniel, Jr. of Meridian, Miss.; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. McDaniel were held Saturday, June 21, 2003, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Dr. Jim Shaw and Rev. Glen Smith officiating. Burial followed at the Pine Knot Cemetery in Paragould, Ark.

Pallbearers were Larry Blagg, Jaime Jarrett, Matthew Jarrett, Ronnie Jarrett, Lance McDaniel and Jim Webb.
