Mr. Dorse Wayne "D.W." Smith of Trumann passed away July 16, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was 68 years old.

Mr. Smith was born in Huntsville, Ala., and had lived in Trumann for the past 47 years and was formerly of Bay. He was a construction worker and of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Rufus and Maggie Hillard Smith, three sisters and one brother.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Janice Smith of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Ann Tucker of Trumann; two sons, Billy Wayne Smith and Danny Lynn "Bub" Smith both of Trumann; step-father, W.A. Bandy of Bay; one brother, Louie Smith of Clio, Mich.; six grandchildren, Jennifer Davis, Amanda Smith, Leslie Coin, Danielle Smith and Hollie Tucker; and one great-granddaughter, Briana Davis.

Funeral services for Mr. Smith were held Saturday, July 19, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Ricky Dobbins officiating. The burial followed at Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers were Gerald Smith, Joe Mitchell, Robert Hodges, Charles Smith, Ricky Wright and Lee Ballard. Honorary pallbearers were Donnie Pipes and Terry Ballard.
