Lee Thomas Smith

Mr. Lee Thomas "L.T." Smith of Trumann passed away July 29, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, Ark., from natural causes. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Smith was born in Weona, Ark., and had lived in the Trumann area before moving to Memphis, Tenn., in 1967. He then moved back in 1998. Mr. Smith was retired from the Fred's Dollar Store and was the manager of Fred's Dollar Store in Trumann before moving to Memphis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Melto Ave. Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ester Thorne Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Presley Smith of the home; three sons, Paul Smith of Trumann, Gary Smith and Phillip Smith both of Memphis, Tenn.; three sister, Mrs. Retha Oldman of Marked Tree, Mrs. Readie Brooks and Mrs. Geraldine Glidewell both of Trumann; one brother, Cecil Smith of Trumann; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thompson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 31, 2003, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Landon Hope, Nolan Glover and Ronnie Benson officiating. Afterwards a private burial will be conducted at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Penter, Jackie Teague, Orville Martin, Donald Presley, Buford Presley and George Presley.
