Wilford Steffens

Mr. Wilford F. "Bill" Steffens of Trumann, passed away July 29, 2003, from a drowning accident at Norfolk River in Mountain Home, Ark. He was 72 years old.

Mr. Steffens was born in Dixon, Ill., and had lived in Trumann since 1989 and was formerly of Memphis, Tenn. He was a retired salesman and restaurant manager, a member of the Northeast Arkansas Fly Fishers and of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joann B. Worden Steffens in 1993, one sister, Laronna Sue Hazelwood and his mother Helen Gliczinski Steffens Willstead.

Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Vickie Steffens of Rockford, Ill.; two sons, Steven Steffens of Memphis, Tenn., and Gary Steffens of Houston, Texas; one sister, Mrs. Alice Daniels of Dixon, Ill.; two grandchildren, Logan and Julie Steffens both of Houston Texas; and a fiance, Ms. Dorthiea Reeves of Trumann.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 2, 2003, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. The burial followed at Oak Grove Cemetery in Weiner, Ark.

Pallbearers were Charles Hazelwood, Delbert Reeves, Michael Ames, Danny Cochran, Buell Crider and Dennis Reed.
