Lee Thomas Smith

Mr. Lee Thomas "L.T." Smith died July 29, 2003, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro from natural causes. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Smith was born in Weona, Ark., and had lived in the Trumann area before moving to Memphis, Tenn., in 1967 and moved back to Trumann in 1996. He was retired from Fred's Dollar Store and was the manager of Fred's Dollar Store in Trumann before moving to Memphis. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Melton Ave. Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ester Thorne Smith.

Survivors include Mr. Smith's wife, Mrs. Hazel Presley Smith of the home; three sons, Paul Smith of Trumann, Gary Smith of Memphis, Tenn., and Phillip Smith of Memphis, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. Retha Oldman of Marked Tree, Ark., Mrs. Readie Brooks of Trumann, Mrs. Geraldine Glidewell of Trumann; brother, Cecil Smith of Trumann; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 31, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Landon Hope, Nolan Glover and Ronnie Benson officiating. A private burial followed at Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis, Tenn.

Pallbearers were Dennis Penter, Jackie Teague, Orville Martin, Donald Presley, Buford Presley and George Presley.
