Mr. Michael Wayne 'Mike' Vinson, 48, of Newton, N.C., died August 9, 2003, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, N.C., from natural causes.

Mr. Vinson was born in Jonesboro on November 20, 1954, and had lived most of his lifetime in Trumann before moving to North Carolina in 1938. He was a chef and restaurant owner. Mr. Vinson was also a 1973 graduate of Trumann High School and a member of the Hickory Church of Christ.

Survivors include Mr. Vinson's wife, Mrs. Susan Presley Vinson of the home; two sons, Jason Michael Vinson of Greensboro, N.C., and Jordan James Richard Vinson of Raleigh, N.C.; parents, James and Mildred Vinson of Trumann; sister, Mrs. Donna Watson of Lake City, Ark.; and brother, Richard Vinson of Trumann.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 11, 2003, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with Ronnie Benson officiating. The burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers were Mr. Vinson's nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Freddie Devitorio, Keith Johnson and Ricky Ruffin.
