Mrs. Ila V. Bennett Meeks, 86, of Trumann passed away Wednesday, August 20, 2003, at Regional Medical Center of NEA in Jonesboro due to natural causes.

Mrs. Meeks was born in Tippah County, Miss., on November 16, 1916, and had lived in Trumann the past 63 years. Mrs. Meeks was retired from the Singer Company of Trumann and a member of First Baptist Church of Trumann. Mrs.

Meeks was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Meeks and her parents, Kelsey and Francis Cledie Burrow Bennett and two sisters.

Mrs. Meeks is survived by one son, John Kirby Meeks of Winona, Miss.; two daughters, Mrs. Beth Meeks Presley of Little Rock and Mrs. Jan Meeks Bley of Normandy, Tenn.; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Jean Meeks of Winona, Miss.; two son-in-laws, Donald Presley of Little Rock and Jerold Bley of Normandy, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Doug Meeks, Brad Meeks, Bruce Bley, Patrick Presley, Ryan Presley; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. The burial followed at Nettleton Cemetery in Jonesboro. The grandsons served as pallbearers.
