Mr. Qualls was born in Savannah, Tenn., and had lived in Trumann for the past eleven years and was formerly of Wilmington, Calif. He was longshoreman as well as also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII.
Mr. Qualls was preceded in death by his parents, William E. and Rosie Smith Qualls, by two sisters Mrs. Mary Lou Austin and Mrs. Elsie Hopkins, and by two brothers Vernon Qualls, and Earl Qualls.
Mr. Qualls is survived by his four daughters, Mrs. Barbara Brewer of Collinwood, Tenn., Mrs. Bernice Wiley and Mrs. Dianne Holley both of Trumann; three sons, Roger Qualls of Jonesboro, Robert Qualls of Waynesboro, Tenn., Raymond Qualls of Yakima, Wash.; four sisters, Mrs. Emily Austin of Savannah, Tenn., Mrs. Marie Baker of Trumann, Mrs. Wilma Reeves of Jonesboro, Mrs. Faye Jenkins of Harrisburg; two brothers, Ottie Qualls and J.C. Qualls both of Trumann; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, September 10, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Truman with Jimmy Martin officiating. A private burial followed. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Qualls, Roger Qualls Jr., Anthony Brewer, Kenny Brewer and Bobby Lynn Qualls.
