James Larry Hamilton, 54, of Marion died Monday, Oct. 20, at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis.

He was an accountant for Pepsico in Memphis and was of the Pentecostal belief.

An All-Southland Conference quarterback for the Arkansas State University football Indians, Hamilton was the most valuable player in the 1970 Pecan Bowl and quarterbacked the team during the undefeated season of 1970 when team won the small college national championship.

Survivors include one son, Chuck Hamilton of Memphis; one daughter, Amanda Hamilton of Forrest City; his father, Cloyes E. Hamilton of Marked Tree; two sisters, Lois May of Trumann and Joyce Morgan of Marked Tree; and one brother, Edwin Hamilton of Burnet, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Opal Trammell Hamilton and one sister.

Funeral services are scheduled in the chapel of Murphy Funeral Home of Marked Tree, with Jim Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in Marked Tree Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Danny Buck, Homer Craig, Charles George, Paul McClelland, Joe Waleszonia and Tracy Catt.

Honorary pallbearers will include Bo Gillespie, Roger Morgan, James Ed Hamilton, Todd May and Charles Horton.

Memorials may be made to Special Olympics.
