Cecil Amos Smith

Mr. Cecil Amos Smith, 74, of Trumann passed away Oct. 26, 2003, at the family residence due to natural causes.

Mr. Smith was born in Weona and had lived most of his lifetime in the Trumann and West Memphis areas. He was a retired mechanic for Ford Motor Company and member of the First Christian Church in Trumann.

He was preceded in death by one step-son, Paul David Foley; one brother, L.T. Smith, and he was the son of the late Frank and Ester Thorne Smith.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Mrs. Anita Steele Smith of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Brenda Robinson of Bay and Mrs. Sandy Ballman of Waterford, Conn.; step-daughter, Mrs. Libbe Dickerson of West Memphis; three step-sons, Gary Foley of Springfield, Mo., David Foley and Phillip Foley both of Cambridge, Ohio; three sisters, Mrs. Retha Oldman of Marked Tree, Mrs. Rebbie Oldman and Mrs. Geraldine Glidewell both of Trumann; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 11 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Marlin Gennings officiating. The burial followed at Marked Tree Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jason Thompson, Gary Houston, Barry Wood, Bob Crowe, Gary Baldwin and Ronnie Harrison. Honorary pallbearers were Glen Muse, Dr. Floyd Smith, Darrel Reese, Lloyd Reese and Clint Crowe.

Memorials can be sent to First Christian Church on W. Main in Trumann.
