Charles Winston Reed

Funeral services for Charles Winston Reed, 88, of Trumann who died Saturday, Nov. 29, at Trumann Health and Rehabilitation Center, were Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann.

The Rev. Marlin Gennings will officiate, and burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Gary Baldwin, Gary Darr, Dr. Kemp Childs, Jon Childs, Matt Miller and David Moore.

Honorary pallbearers will include Derrell Reese, Ray Knight, Bob Miller, Dr. Floyd Smith, Dr. Charles Kemp, Mike Roach, G.W. Roach Jr. and G.W. Roach Sr.

Born at Jonesboro, he lived in Trumann for 58 years. He attended Jonesboro High School and earned a bachelor's degree from what was then Arkansas State College. He served in the Navy during World War II and was present at the Armistice in 1945.

He worked for the Singer Co. Wood Products Division for 28 years and for Roach Manufacturing Corp. for 23 years. He was a member of First Christian Church of Trumann where he served as a deacon and treasurer.

He is survived by one son, Barre Reed of Oakland, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethyl Kemp Reed, and his parents, Charles W. and Lorena Willie Reed.
