He was born at Parkin and was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He retired from Slant and Slant in Trumann and later from Wilshire in Marked Tree.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Turner and Flossie Mae Smith Turner; his wife, Shirley Jean Turner, and a sister, Johnnie Mae Pruitt.
He is survived by one sister, Florence Harbison of Nashville, Tenn.; four brothers, Carol Turner of Rockford, Ill., Leroy Turner of Payneway, Freddie Joe Turner of Maynard, and Glen Wages of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sons, Kellie Joe Turner and William Tod Turner, both of Harrisburg; three daughters, Linda Gail Crow of Mountain Home, Delita Jean Harbison of Cherry Valley and Pauline M. "Crickett" Harris of Harrisburg; 11 grandchildren, Katie Turner, Crystal Turner, Ashley Turner, Tyler Turner, Justin Turner, Eric Privett, Tamera Davis, Quinton Barnes, Tyler Timbs, Nicholas Jones and Tod Nicole Turner and two great- grandchildren, Destiney Tomas and Meagan Tomas.
Visitation was Tuesday, Dec. 16, at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home. Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 17, at the Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Robert Crockett and Bro. Bill Scroggs officiating.
Burial followed in Bolivar Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Doug Cravens, Donald Holt, J.B. Reddmann, Dustin Weeks, James Harris and Henry "Gus" Darmon.
Honorary pallbearers were William Easter, Tommy Gitzgerald, Paul Kirby, Carl Long, Bobby Dunn, John Reddmann, Melvin Settlemire and Eric Pricett.
