E.L. Cowboy Paden

Funeral services for E.L. "Cowboy" Paden, 76, of Bay, who died Tuesday, Dec. 23, at the Regional Medical Center of NEA, were Saturday, Dec. 27, 2003, at Emerson Funeral Home's Memorial Chapel.

Joel McMasters and Ron Skaggs officiated and burial followed in Nettleton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Lomer Turney, Bobby Hutchinson, John Travis, Davey Lisk, Ray Lee and James McMasters.

Honorary pallbearers included Ed Watson, Guy Spencer and Joe Holt.

Born in Booneville, Miss., he lived several years in Southaven, Miss., before moving to Bay 20 years ago. He was a retired truck driver with 40 years of service for Gordon Transport and Jones Truck Lines. He was a member of the Broadway Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Bay.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Paden of the home; one daughter, Lynda Layer of Jonesboro; one son, Dennis Wayne Yeager of Charleston, S.C.; two brothers, Bill Paden of Jonesboro and Jerry Paden of Mason, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Shauna Layer, Katie Layer, Ashley Yeager, Tyler Yeager and Dennis Bennett Yeager; four step-grandchildren, Chris Bigalke, Mickey Bigalke, Jacqueline Bigalke and Andrew Bigalke; and one great-granddaughter, Reily Yeager.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Paden, and by his parents.
