Born at Belmore, he lived most of his life in Trumann. He was retired from the City of Trumann Street Department and was of the Baptist belief.
Survivors include two sons, Bobby Kirkland and Stanley Kirkland, both of Trumann; one sister, Bernell Holloway of Gideon, Mo.; three brothers, Charles Kirkland of Kennett, Mo., J.C. Kirkland of Nashville, Tenn., and J.W. Kirkland of Jonesboro; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 5, 2003, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with the Rev. Billy Moore officiating. Burial followed in Holly Springs Cemetery at Harrisburg.
Pallbearers were Billy Clark, Robbie Deason, Josh Kirkland, Timmy Kirkland, Tommy Kirkland, David Phillips, John Smith and Eddie Upton.
