Born at Fulton, Miss., he was a member of Willis Chapel Pentecostal Church of Harrisburg and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps during World War II. He retired from the Poinsett County Road Department after 32 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Alice Whitaker Brown of the home; three sons, Larry Brown and LeRoy Brown, both of Jonesboro, and Walter Brown of Trumann; two stepsons, Darrell Armstrong of Harrisburg and Boyd Armstrong of Saltillo, Miss.; one daughter, Bonnie Wallace of Texas; three stepdaughters, Carolyn Ragsdale of Bay, Linda Sims of Paragould and Sheri Snider of Estill Springs, Tenn.; two brothers, Troy Brown and Roy Brown of Tupelo, Miss.; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Lorene Brown Davis, his parents and a brother.
Funeral services Tuesday, Feb. 10, in the chapel at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home, with the Rev. Larry Bogard and Tony Becker officiating. Burial followed in Bolivar Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Felix Whitaker, Finis Whitaker, Boyce Whitaker, Wayne Young, Carvin O'Brien and Greg Armstrong.
Pete Armstrong served as an honorary pallbearer.
