Burness Holt

Funeral services for Burness R. Holt, 86, of Trumann, who died Tuesday, Feb. 10, were Friday, Feb. 13, at First United Methodist Church in Trumann.

The Rev. Jimmy Thresher officiated, and burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann.

Pallbearers included Ben Hyneman, Hal Hyneman, Rod Pitts, Randy Holt, Marion Holt, Sarah Holt and Emily Holt.

Born in Athens, Ala., he lived in Trumann most of his life and owned and operated Holt's Grocery. He served as mayor of Trumann from 1979 to 1983, was a World War II Navy veteran, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Trumann.

Survivors include one daughter, Donna K. Pitts of Tempe, Ariz.; two sons, Randolph Holt of Kittery, Maine, and Marion Holt of Novi, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary A. Holt; one son, Charles Robert Holt; his parents; and a stepmother.
