Carl Eulius Dowdy

Carl Eulius Dowdy, 76, of Hoxie, formerly of Trumann, died Tuesday, March 30, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Walnut Ridge.

Born in Hartford, Iowa, he was retired from General Motors and was an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Copeland Dowdy of the home; three daughters, Carla Ann Harp of Corning, Evelyn Jean Mace of Doniphan, Mo., and Beverly Anita Dowdy of San Antonio; two sons, Michael Dale Dowdy of Kentwood, Mich., and William Keith Dowdy of Reyno; six stepchildren; one sister, Helen Inez Calkin of Jonesboro; three brothers, Glen William Dowdy of Tomball, Texas, Richard Lowell Dowdy of Kansas City, Mo., and Gary Neal Dowdy of California; nine grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 32 step great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, June Annetta Mae Goodwin Dowdy, a sister, a brother and his parents.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 2, in the Thompson Funeral Home chapel in Trumann. The Rev. Donald Lewert officiated, and burial followed in Nettleton Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were be Johnny Mathew Gaines, Michael Joseph Cherven, Terry Scott Mace, William Cody Dowdy, Christopher Anthony Bland, Charles Adam Bland and Craig Alexander Bland.

Honorary pallbearers include Paul Calkin, Jonathan Wesley Watkins, William Clarence "Butch" Watkins and Jerry D. Ward.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
