Born in Trumann, he had lived in St. Louis before moving back to Trumann in 1987. He was retired from the McDonald Douglas Co., a 32nd degree Mason of the Masonic Lodge of Overland, Mo., a member of the Trumann Lions Club and of the First Baptist Church in Trumann.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Shelton Cockrum of the home; one daughter, Brenda Gail Nelson of St. Charles, Mo.; two sons, Larry Randall Cockrum of Oshkosh, Wisc., and Richard Franklin Cockrum of Tucson, Ariz.; four sisters, Opal Lee Brown of Jonesboro, Unia McBride Burns of Florence, Ala., Tommie Crouch of Trumann; and Glyn Greenway of Iron City, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Eric Wolfgang Nelson and Barbara Denise Benson, both of Los Angeles, Brittany Michelle Nelson of St. Charles, Don Randall Cockrum of Rice Lake, Wisc., Jon Cockrum of Kansas City, Mo., and Ernest Dean Cockrum and Nancy Marie Cockrum, both of Tucson; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Jon Ira "Butch" Cockrum; his parents, Ira and Robbie Leggett Cockrum; two sisters; one brother; and one grandson.
Funeral services will be announced by Alexander and Sons Guardian Mortuary in Saint Ann, Mo. Burial will be in Mount Lebanon Cemetery at Saint Ann.
