He was born in Jonesboro and was a lifetime resident of Trumann. He owned and operated a janitorial service and was a bus driver for Trumann Public Schools. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Trumann.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ann Pankey of Trumann; two sons, Christopher Dale Pankey and Zachary Aaren Pankey, both of Trumann; one stepdaughter, Misty Carpenter of Bay; one stepson, Anthony Dickens of Harrisburg; one sister, Susan Fagan of Hardy; one brother, Charles Douglas Pankey of Trumann; one grandson, Jeremy Dale Pankey of Trumann; and three stepgrandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, May 14 at First Baptist Church in Trumann, with Dr. Tad Rogers and the Rev. Jamison May officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Dr. Kemp Childs, Robby Cook, Jackie Richardson, David Sloan, Jonathan Watson and Lee Watson.
Honorary pallbearers were James Baker, Nick Garrett, Charles Griffin and Jerry Hollihan.
