Hugh L. Short, 77, of Trumann died Wednesday, Aug. 18, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center in Little Rock.

Born in Clarksdale, he lived most of his life in Trumann. He was retired from the Singer Co. and Delta Wood Products, both in Trumann, and was a member of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Vernice Owens Short of the home; one son, Ricky Short of Trumann; two daughters, Barbara Short of the home and Mary Reedy of Trumann; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Short; his parents, Richard and Beulah Simpson Short; one brother, one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann. James Veal and Lynn Vinson will officiate and burial followed in Nettleton Cemetery at Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were Darnell Dickerson, Jimmy Dodd, Mark Lawrence, Hubert Raney, John Richards and Nicky Rhoads.
