Edward "Ed" Redd

Edward "Ed" Redd, 78, of Harrisburg passed away on Thursday, Jan. 13, 2005 in Jonesboro.

He was born in Tyronza, the son of Elbert and Lorene Fowler Redd. He worked in farm equipment and was a salesman. In the 1960's he started working for Marked Tree Equipment, in the 70's he worked form Parkin Equipment Company, in the 80's Marked Tree Equipment Company and in the 90's he worked for the People Implement Company in Earl where he retired in 2000.

Redd was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, where he was an active Deacon. He was a US Army veteran and a member of the American Legion for fifty years. He enjoyed gardening, lawn work, hunting, fishing, working in his shop, spending time with family, friends and grandchildren and helping others.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Redd and one sister, Eva Mae Stricklin.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye Chism Redd of the home; three sons, Jimmy Redd of Little Rock, Danny Redd and his wife Debora of Harrisburg and Mark Redd and his wife, Lynette of Memphis; one brother, Mel Redd of Harrisburg and three grandchildren, Erica Danielle Redd, Cory Redd and Trevor Redd.

Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 16 at Jackson's Harrisburg Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Tacker and Rev. Captain Lovell officiating. Interment will be in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jeff Wood, Don Neil, Talmadge Doss, Marvin Krauss, Carlton Panell and Johnny Rorex. Honorary pallbearers were the men's Sunday school class and Jay Parker.
