Ramon "Ray" Zapata

Ramon "Ray" Zapata, 65, of Trumann passed away on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005 at St. Bernard's Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro of natural causes.

He was born in Devine, Tex. and lived in Trumann since 1972. He was a retired painter and of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fransisco and Gregoria Campas Zapata.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Brown Zapata of the home; two daughters, Ramona Cramer of Rockford, Ill. And Shari York of Trumann; five sons, Ramon I. Zapata of San Antonio, Tex., Raymon Zapata, Jr. of Twentynine Palms, Calif., James Zapata of North Little Rock, Keith Smolder and Tommy Zapata, both of Trumann; five sisters, Maria Zapata of Uvalde, Tex., Maria Perez of Natalia, Tex., Adelfa Castillo of Detroit, Mich. Linda Garza of Detroit, Mich. And Hernestina Anaya of Florida; four brothers, Sammy Garcia of San Antonio, Tex., Frank Zapata, Jr. of San Antonio, Tex., Andrew Zapata of Big Foot, Tex. and Adolpho Garcia of Detroit, Mich.; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Feb. 8 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Ervin Stout officiating. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Al Miller, Danny Sowell, Jackie Richardson, Danny McClellan, Bob Slinkard and Johnny Porter. Honorary pallbearers were Theo Austin, Jim Bishop, Johnny Porter, Jr. and Wayne Chaffin.
