Opal Irene Birdno Smith

Opal Irene Birdno Smith, 83, of Lepanto died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005 at Trumann.

Born in Portia, Mo., she was a homemaker and a member of Lepanto Church of Christ.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Powell of Lepanto, Connie Smith of Trumann and Renee Smith of West Memphis; five sons, Billy Joe Smith of Plant City, Fla., Jimmy Smith, Paul C. Smith and Jackie Smith, all of Lepanto, and Ronnie Smith of Blytheville; 24 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, A.C. Smith; her parents, Samuel David and Ida Bell Birdno; and two brothers.

Graveside services were Thursday, Feb. 17, 2005 at Potter Memorial Cemetery at Lepanto, with Gary Masters officiating. Memphis Funeral Home-Poplar Chapel of Memphis was in charge of the arrangements.

Grandsons Bo Powell, Chad Smith, Anthony Smith, Bryan Ryan, Jerry Carter, Bobby Brumley Jr., Josh Smith and Jordan Smith served as pallbearers.

Memorials may be made to Lepanto Church of Christ or the Billy Powell Memorial Scholarship Fund.
