Lindbergh Vickers

Lindbergh "Lindy" Vickers Sr., 77, of Jonesboro, died Sunday, March 6, 2005.

Born at Athens, Ala., he moved to Tulot in 1935 and later to Trumann, where he lived until moving to Jonesboro in 1986.

He was a 1945 graduate of McCormick High School and attended Athens State University at Athens. He was a salesman, co-owner of Southside Lumber Co. at Trumann, owner of Vickers Grocery at Trumann and inside salesman for Dealers Service of Arkansas until he retired.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Holley Vickers of the home; three sons, Lindbergh Vickers Jr. of Houston, Texas, and Neal W. Vickers and Park T. Vickers, both of Jonesboro; one brother, Calvin Vickers of Horn Lake, Miss; two sisters, Abbie Ruth Phillips of Jonesboro and Carolyn Tosh of Benton; and three granddaughters, Kimberly Vickers, Amber Vickers and Mary Catherine Vickers, all of Jonesboro.

Funeral services were Thursday, March 10, 2005 at Trinity Church of Jonesboro.

The Rev. Steven Farmer officiated and burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

Active pallbearers were Roy Thomas, Gary Hoggard, Bill Brooks, Tony Hickman, Otho Evan and Harris Townsley.

Honorary pallbearers were Jack Poling, Dr. Floyd Smith, Dale Wright, Calvin Lard, Charles Montgomery, Bill Cook, Charles Ramsey and L.B. Baker.
