She was born in Drew, Miss. and had lived in Whitehaven, Tenn., Trumann and Nesbit, Miss. before moving to Jonesboro two years ago. She was a former member of the First Baptist Church in Trumann where she served on the building committee and was also a member of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Whitehaven where she was past president of the Women of the Church.
She was a graduate of the University of Memphis and worked as a librarian at M.R. Dye Public Library in Horne Lake, Miss. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Whitehaven Book Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Dabney Rives, Jr.; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Rives and her parents, Jesse and Vallie Upchurch Skinner.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Mozingo of Horn Lake, Miss., Dr. Jackie McBride of Jonesboro, Georgia Anne Henderson of Trumann and Nancy Lane Dunaway of Forrest City; one son, George Dabney Rives, III of Nesbit, Miss.; two sisters, Helen Wiley and Lavelle Liles, both of Temple, Tex.; ten grandchildren, Leslie Mozingo of Memphis, Jim Mozingo and Chris Mozingo, both of Tampa, Fla., Lisa Gueno and Shelly Brown, both of Jonesboro, Shannon Lee and Brent Henderson, both of Trumann, Bill Dunaway of St. Louis, Mo., Lane Dunaway of Tempe, Az. and Jesse Rives of Nesbit, Miss. and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Tuesday, July 5, 2005 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Dr. Edward Knox officiating. A graveside committal services was today, July 6, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the Indianola City Cemetery in Indianola, Miss. with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Active pallbearers are Jim Gueno, Wade Brown, Bill Dunaway, Jesse Rives, Brent Henderson, Jim Mozingo and Ray Lee.
Honorary pallbearers are nephews Bobby Wiley, David Wiley, Wray Rives and Bill Liles.
The family requests lasting memorials can be made to charity of donor's choice.
