He was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, and had lived in Trumann for the past three years and was formerly of North Little Rock. He was a production worker, veteran of the U.S. Army and was a member of the Providence Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one son, Curtis Lee Gard.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Mitchusson Gard, of the home; his mother and step-father, Sharon and Robert Youngman, of Stillwell, Ok.; his father, Jerry Lee Gard, Sr., of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two step-daughters, Terri Ann Owens, of Harrisburg, and Kimberly Inzer of Trumann; a step-son, Douglas Harley Timbs, Jr., Lebannon, Tenn,; two sisters, Shelley Delegardelle of Springdale, and Bobbie Sue Girdner, of Tahlequah, Ok.; two brothers, Lennie Gard, of Stillwell, and Gene Gard of Tahlequah; and 9 step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 13, 2005, in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Wilson Cemetery in Trumann. Pallbearers for the ceremony were Dale Hatcher, Cord Hatcher, Jimmy Bishop, Larry Parsley, Jim Fowler, and Shannon Smith.
