He was born at Apt and he had lived in Trumann for most of his life. He was retired from the Air Force, having served in the Korean and Vietnam wars, and was a member of Freer Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Ruby Wilson McDaniel; one sister; Francis McCoy and one brother, Spencer McDaniel.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Long McDaniel of the home; two sons, Martin Owen McDaniel and Rory Edward McDaniel, both of Trumann; one sister, Marguerite McMahan of Trumann; three brothers, Chester McDaniel of Watervilet, Mich., and James Paul McDaniel and Dale McDaniel, both of Trumann; and three grandchildren, Ryan McDaniel, Seth McDaniel and Jacob McDaniel.
Funeral services were Friday, July 29, 2005 at the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann, with the Rev. Bill Maxwell officiating. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery wit Military Honors.
Active pallbearers were Robert Hendrix, Vance McDaniel, Paul McDaniel, Alex Roberts and David McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan McDaniel, Seth McDaniel and Jacob McDaniel.
