He owned and operated Garry's Automotive Supplies for many years until retiring. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lake City.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Tommie Holden.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Holden of the home; three sons and daughter's in-law, Todd and Michelle Holden of Lake City, Richard and Melenda Holden of Lake City and Tony Holden of Lakeland, Fla.; one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Terry Wicker of Lakeland, Fla.; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Blanche Holden of Lake City, Larry and Tommie Holden of Trumann and Dennis and Pam Holen of Monette; one sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Donald Owens of Caraway; his mother-in-law, Jean. L. Martin of Lake City and 13 grandchildren, Will Holden, Jarrett Holden, Summer Holen, Megan Holden, Madison Wicker, Vince Wicker, Ryan Wicker, Michael Jones, T.J. Jones, Laura Jones, Lucas Walker, Anna Walker and Abbie Peck.
Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at Emerson Chapel in Lake City with Bro. Larry Owens officiating and Traci Smith as soloist. Burial followed at Jonesboro Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Jim Robertson, Jim Ladd, Dwight Dunkerson, Jerry Crigler, Richard Varner and Jerry Milligan. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Powell, Walter Hicks, Roger Coy, Murial Wilson, Raymond Baker, Glenn Bailey, Wayne Carr and Short Blancett.
The family requests those wishing to leave a lasting memorial to consider the National Kidney Foundation.
