He was a graduate of Arkansas State University in Jonesboro where he majored in business administration. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After moving to the coast, he was employed with Ingalls Shipbuilding in the program office. He later operated his business in Vancleave, Po Boy Bill's, until his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Alma Walton of Trumann.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Aileen Dudley Walton; one daughter, Charlotte Skelton and her husband David of Cleveland, Miss.; one son, Mark Walton and his wife Marcy of Vancleave; his five grandchildren, Marc Walden and his wife Anna Laura of Memphis, Allie and Emery Skelton, and Jesse and Justin Walton; two great-grandchildren, Savanna and Ava Rose Walden and two brothers, Floyd (Flookie) Walton and Dale Walton both of Trumann.
A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date.
