Jimmy Joe Speakes

Jimmy Joe Speakes of Trumann died Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 at St. Bernard's Medical Center. Born at Etowah, he had lived in Trumann for the last 40 years returning here from Joplin, Mo.

Speakes was a veteran of the United States Army and had served during the Vietnam war. He was a lifetime member of the NRA, a retired self employed welder and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Noah and Pearl Lee Speakes.

Survivors include his wife, Sue Speakes of the home; one daughter, Katherine Large of Aurora, Colo.; two sons, Ricky Joe Speakes of Trumann and Randy Lee Speakes of Paragould and three grandchildren, Jesse Large, Joshua Thomas and Caleb Worley.

Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 4 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with the Dr. Tad Rogers officiating.

Active pallbearers were Arther Wells, Marty Melton, Jerry Barton, Terry Coots, Donald Pratt, and Dennis Holden.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Ray Medley, Bill Teague, Neal Payne, and Larry Holden.
