He was a lifetime resident of Harrisburg and was of the Baptist faith. He was a farmer, welder, former Phillips 66 gas station owner and had worked in the maintenance department at Poinsett State Park for ten years. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and small carpentry jobs.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Gerald Keith Witt and one granddaughter, Robin Crump.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Karen Maddox Witt of the home; six daughters, Beth Witt and Cassie Witt, both of the home, Sharon Tarpley of Indiana, Shirley Wilcockson of Trumann and Karen Hubbard and Heather Harris, both of Harrisburg; seven sons, Larry Witt, Terry Witt, Jimmy Witt, Ronnie Witt and Eric Deckelman all of Harrisburg, Joe Witt of Wynne, Donnie Witt of Ft. Worth, Tex.; three sisters, Lanell King, Catherine Cole and Linda Witt, all of Harrisburg; three brothers, Jack Tackett of Largo, Fla., Oneal Witt of Trumann and Ricky Witt of Harrisburg; 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 at the Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg with interment following at Holly Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Bobby Austin, Joe Adams, Greg Reddman, Allen Rudd, Jerry Harris and Stanley Whitlatch.
