Irene Rogers

Mrs. Irene Rogers, 85, of Marion formerly of Newport, died Monday, March 27, 2006 in West Memphis. She was born August 2, 1920 at Fisher, the daughter of Frank and Laura Bell White.

Mrs. Rogers was the owner and operator of a restaurant in Newport in the late 60's and early 70's. Mrs. Rogers enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Laura Bell (Carter) White; one son, Delano Gail Hawkins; one daughter, Marlene Derr; one brother, Buck White; four sisters, Mae Foster, Lucy Garrett, Grace Sanders and infant Melissa White; one granddaughter, Debbie Thomas; one grandson, John Ragsdale and one great-granddaughter, Stephanie Thomas.

Mrs. Rogers is survived by two daughters, Joan Asher and husband Raymond of Trumann and Jeanie Pierce and husband Jim of Marion; one son-in-law, Leon Derr of St. Louis, Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Fisher Cemetery with Bro. Joe Spangler officiating. Visitation will be at Jackson's Funeral Home Thursday March 30, 2006, 12:30-1:30 p.m.
