Margaret Sloan, 87, of Harrisburg died Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at her home.

She was born May 3, 1918 in Cordova, Ala., the daughter of James Henderson and Mary Ella Cox Henderson.

She married Charlie Sloan on Nov. 28, 1936 and they enjoyed 30 years together before his death in January of 1966. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Harrisburg School and was of the Baptist faith.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, cooking and caring for others.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Walter and Hal; one daughter, Earline West; six brothers; eight sisters and one great-grandson, Tyson Massengil.

She is survived by a son, Charles Sloan of Pevely, Mo.; a daughter Ernestine Wilkins of Earle; one brother, Joe Henderson of Detroit, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Thursday, March 23, 2006 at the Weston Funeral Service Chapel in Harrisburg.

Interment followed at Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg.
