Louis Orville Powers

Louis Orville Powers, 84, of Trumann died Sunday, May 7 at the family residence. Born in Weona, he had lived in Trumann since 1977 and was formerly of Memphis.

Powers was a nurse's aide for the V. A. Hospital in Memphis and a deacon of the Faith Baptist Church in Trumann. He was a veteran of the United States Army in WWII.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Powers and was the son of the late Earnest and Lessie Isbell Powers.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel M. Parks Powers of the home; a daughter, Pamela Curry of Marion; a son, Rickey E. Powers of Paris, Tenn.; seven sisters, Lois Brightwell of Kennewick, Wash., Lorez Peiffer of Salinas, Calif., Linda Barker, Brinda Barker, Mary Janie Blackwood and Patricia Satterfield all of Trumann and Jean Marter of Marion; three brothers, Joe Powers of Salinas, Calif., Eddie Powers of Trumann and Jack Powers of St. Louis, Mo.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral service were Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the Holly Springs Cemetery in Harrisburg.
