Alan was born on July 10, 1987 in Jonesboro. He graduated from Williford High School this past May. While in high school he was a member of the Chess Club and very active on the Williford Senior Boys Basketball team. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hardy.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Janetta and Carey Fortune of Williford; his father, Raymond Keith Smolder; three brothers, Keith Daniels of Ash Flat, Raymond Smolder of ElPaso, Tex. and C.J. Fortune of Hardy; three sisters, Brandi Fortune of Clinton, Tenn., Heather Fortune of Three Rivers, Mich. and Brittany Smolder of Trumann; two nieces Cloie and Ally Daniels, both of Ash Flat; his grandparents, Carolyn Sullivan of Jonesboro, Pat and Ed Utley of Highland and Linda Zapata of Trumann and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by two grandfathers, Ray Zapata and Stonewall Sullivan.
Funeral services were Sunday, July 9 at the Tri-County Funeral Home in Highland with Dr. Larry Kendrick officiating. Burial followed in the Baker Cemetery near Hardy.
Pallbearers were David Renard, Micah Wade, Shawn Hooks, Austin Davis, Jody Shackleford and Seth Hamilton.
