Janiece Smithson, 65, of Trumann died Thursday, July 6, at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Born on Tuesday, April 15, 1941 in Mississippi County, she lived in Trumann for 54 years and was formerly of Lepanto. She was retired from Arkansas Glass Container Corp. of Jonesboro and of the Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her mother Martha Abbott.

Survivors include two daughters, Debbie Smithson of Trumann and Dana Ferguson of Bay; one son, Michael Smithson of Cabot; her father, Ira Abbott of Trumann; one sister, Wanda Linton of Trumann; one brother, Monroe Abbott of Paragould; nine grandchildren: Amber Smithson, Derick Smithson, Melanie Cox, Jerra Ferguson, Jordan Ferguson, Mareena Gilbert, Malorie Smithson, Katlyn Ferguson and Melissa Smithson; and three great-grandchildren: Garen, Hannah and Danielle.

Funeral services were held Sunday, July 9 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann with Rev. Myles Evans officiating. Burial followed in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Larry Linton, Allen Linton, Joey Abbott, Jeremy Abbott, Landon Linton and Blake Linton.

Honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren.
