Monzo Barker of Trumann died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Trumann Health and Rehab at the age of 73. Mr. Barker was born in Harrisburg and had lived in Trumann for the past 48 years. He was a retired employee of Roach Manufacturing in Trumann and a member of the Central Missionary Baptist Church in Trumann.

Mr. Barker was preceded in death by one daughter, Darlene Barker in 1957; three sisters; one brother and was the son of the late Jim and Anna Hughes Barker.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Verna Dell Jenkins Barker of the home; one daughter, Cathee McGhee of Trumann; one brother, Fred Barker of Trumann; three grandchildren, Darla Nicholas, Ashley Barker and Haley Barker; two great-grandchildren, Connor Aaron Barker and Seth James Nicholas.

Funeral services were Thursday, July 13 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Holly Springs Cemetery near Harrisburg.

Pallbearers were Kenny Fritz, Tim Halfacre, James Jones, David Lapiro, James McGhee and Terry Woodard.
