Mrs. Evelynn Jones Higdon, 85, of Trumann died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006 at Crittenden Memorial Hospital in West Memphis. She was born in Webster County in Mississippi, and she had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. Mrs. Higdon was a former employee of the City of Trumann, member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Corners Chapel Baptist Church in Payneway.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Higdon; three sisters; two brothers and was the daughter of the late Garfield Otis and Bertha Lee Holliman Hood.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Raymell McCarty and her husband Bob of Tyler Tex. and Ms. Susan Roush of West Memphis; one son, Tim Jones and his wife Cathy of Crowley, La.; one brother, John D. Hood of Scobey, Miss.; four grandchildren, Robin McKay, Chris McCarty, Corey Faulk and Casey Faulk and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday, Aug. 6 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Larry Loggins officiating. Burial followed in the Marked Tree Cemetery in Marked Tree.

Pallbearers were James McKay, Bryant Terrell, Don Terrell, Ronnie Terrell, John Meadows and Dennis Morgan.
