Born in Alabama, she had lived in Bay for the past five years and was formerly of Alabama. She was a homemaker and member of the Providence Baptist Church.
Mrs. Laird was preceded in death by her first husband, Grover Pruitt and her second husband, Chester Laird; two great-grandchildren, Michael Lee Walker and Julie Ann Pruitt, and her parents, Dolphus Lindsey and Flossie Humphrey Posey.
Survivors include three daughters, Cornelia Walker of Weiner, Cleta Anschultz of Bay and Brenda Hellums of Montgomery, Ala.; six sons, Jackie L. Pruitt of Huntsville, Ala., Junior Pruitt of Ravenden, Leon Pruitt of Rockford, Il., Carl Pruitt and Jimmy Pruitt both of Trumann, and Gary Pruitt of Jonesboro; one sister, Elaine Daniels of Curry, Ala.; two brothers, Roy Posey of Jasper, Ala., and Andrew Posey of Florence, Ala.; 20 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 8 at the Providence Baptist Church in Trumann with Rev. Bobby Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Mark Pruitt, Darrell Kirby, Shaun Kirby, Kenny Pruitt, Rickey Pruitt and James Pruitt.
Honorary pallbearers were Steven Jaco, Bryan Pruitt, Michael Pruitt and Mark Tribble.
