Mary Opal Davis

Mrs. Mary Opal Davis was born on Monday, March 12, 1928, daughter of the late Henry and Edith Smith. Mrs. Davis died Tuesday, Feb. 27 at St. Bernard's Medical Center in Jonesboro, at the age of 78.

Born in Waterloo, Ala., she had lived most of her lifetime in Trumann. She was a homemaker and former employee of Guy's Discount for many years. Mrs. Davis was a volunteer for Campbell Civic Center Meals on Wheels and a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, W.F. Davis, Jr.; one brother, Morris Smith and her parents.

Survivors include two sons, David Davis of Jonesboro and Terry Davis of Vilonia; two sisters, Thelma Orr and Pauline Wilson both of Memphis; one brother, Donald Ray Smith of Michie, Tenn.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Friday, March 2 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Rev. Jim Wilson and Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were Keith Hammett, Brian Davis, Zachary Davis, Josh Davis and Phillip Harrison-Davis. Honorary pallbearers were Mulberry Street neighbors.
