Charlie Gray Shores

Charlie Gray Shores, 87, of Trumann passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the NEA Medical Center in Jonesboro.

He was born in Mocksville, N.C., and after his service in the military, he lived in St. Francis for six years before moving to Trumann 57 years ago. He was a retired barber, veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp. during WW II, member of the Eastern Star Lodge #207, the American Legion Post 0389 and of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ruben Shores and Richard Shores and was the son of the late Isaac and Minnie Plowman Shores.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Byrd Shores of the home; a son, Charles Gary and wife, Betty Shores of Trumann; two grandchildren, Keiley Blair of Jonesboro and Amber and husband, Matt Moon of Trumann and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Tuesday, March 27 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with Dr. Tad Rogers officiating. Burial followed in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery in Jonesboro.

Pallbearers were Richard Shores, Jr., Tommy Shores, Patrick Book, Andee Book, Matt Moon and Brett Taylor.

Honorary pallbearers were Newt Beaird, Guy Beaird, Jim Richardson, Darrel Reese, Perry Sims, Gary Martin, A.L. Carman, Lloyd Harris, Eldon Gartman, Maurice McMillin, Harold Allen and members of the St. Francis Masonic Lodge.
