Long was born in Trumann and had lived in Harrisburg since 1991. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force and of the Church of Christ faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Long.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Lou Bivens Long of the home; two daughters, Sherry Long of Lake City and Carla Ward of West Memphis; five step-sons, Tim Burchell of Paragould, Kevin Burchell, Michael Burchell, Joe Henry and Josh Henry all of Trumann; his mother, Addie Bell Long of Harrisburg; two sisters, Velma Annette Scroggins and Debra Peeler both of Harrisburg; eight brothers, Phillip Long and Wesley Long both of Jonesboro, Gordon Long of Poplar Bluff, Mo., William Long of Trumann, James Long of Walnut Ridge, Kirk Long, Marlin Long and Bryon Long all of Harrisburg; and one grandson, Michael George of Lake City.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 25 in the chapel of Thompson Funeral Home in Trumann with David Leonard officiating. Burial followed in Tyronza Cemetery in Tyronza.
Long's brothers served as his pallbearers.
