Mary Evelyn Juergens

Tuesday, July 3, 2007
Memorial services for Mary Juergens were Saturday, June 30 at the First Baptist Church in Trumann.

She just recently celebrated her 80th birthday. She was a resident of Trumann for 50 years and then moved three years ago to Lafayette to be closer to her family.

She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Her generosity of spirit and celebration of life were surpassed only by her devotion to her family and love of the Lord. She served as secretary of First Baptist Church in Trumnann for 43 years.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Harry; and her two children, Jeff Juergens and wife Joni Stutes of Lafayette and Cathy Abernethy and husband Chris of Houston.

She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Taylor Juergens of Denver, Britt Juergens of Lafayette, Jennifer McGehee of Houston and Ryan Stutes of Lafayette. Her newest blessing was her great-grandchild, Jacob Juergens of Denver.

She is also survived by her sisters and their husbands, Vinnie and Harold Stafford of Bernie, Mo., Linda and Bruce Jensen of Pontiac, Mich., and Mancy and Tommy Patten of Malden, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Coleman of San Antonio.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff of Cornerstone South and Hospice of Acadiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette 70503, or the Alzheimer's Association of Lafayette, 128 Demanade Blvd., Lafayette 70503.
