Born in Qulin, Mo. he lived in Jonesboro before moving to Bay several years ago. He operated Dick's Barber Shop in Bay for several years and farmed. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II.
He was preceded in death by his parents: John and Pearl Horton Davis; one sister, Myrtle Kimberland and two brothers: Willis "Cotton" Davis and William "Bill" Davis.
He is survived by his wife, Elouise Davis of the home; three sons and their wives: James W. Davis, Jr. of Montana, and Donnie and Sandy Davis, and Ronnie and Carol Davis, all of Bay; one brother, Charlie Davis of Jonesboro and five grandchildren, James Davis, III, Jamie Davis, Clint Davis, Brooke Davis Thomas and Chase Davis.
Funeral services were Thursday, 16 at Emerson Memorial Chapel in Jonesboro with Patrick Kimberland officiating. Burial followed in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers included Ricky Hutchinson, Kenny Vestal, Donnie Scott, Elbert Bradford, Buddy Watts, and Jackie Knight.
