Mrs. Sylvia E. Barton, 89, of Trumann died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2004 at the Craighead County Nursing Center in Jonesboro. She had lived at the Craighead County Nursing Center for the last six and a half years and was formerly of Trumann. Barton was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude Barton; one son, Joe Barton; one great-great granddaughter, Tara Barton; two brothers; one sister; two half sister and her parents, Walter Franklin and Banta Medsker Forbis.

Barton is survived by three daughters, Diane Hardwick, of Jonesboro, Betty Blackston of Bangor, Mich. and Hazel Shoyrer of Chicago, Ill.; three sisters, Hazel Phillips of Jonesboro, Rachel Harris of Memphis, Tenn. and Mary Hale of Wynne; two brothers, Denver Forbis of West Memphis and Vernon Forbis of Harrisburg; 16 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday, Sept. 15at the Calvary Pentecostal Church in Trumann with Rev. Rickey Forbis and Rev. Frank Hardwick officiating. Burial followed in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery in Harrisburg with Thompson Funeral Home of Trumann in charge of arrangements.
